What should I consider when choosing between Logic and Logic16?
Both Logic and Logic16 use the same great software, so your day-to-day experience with each of them will be quite similar. That said, there are 3 main differences to consider.

For some embedded work, having more channels can be quite helpful (even essential), so Logic16 could be a good choice if that applies to you.

If you have some signals that are running faster than Logic can sample (faster than about 6MHz), then Logic16 can provide the flexibility to sample those -- 4 channels as fast as 12MHz (oversampled at 50MHz), or 2 channels at 25MHz (oversampled at 100MHz).

Lastly, Logic16 is much better suited for sampling for long periods of time, since it's much less likely to lose data due to periodic latencies in the USB. Some customers like to set up sampling for many hours, even overnight, to catch a malfunction in the act. We recommend using Logic16 for this.

If you're still unsure, please give us a call or email, and we'll help however we can.

Can you ship to countries in the EU?
Yes, we ship direct to EU countries from our warehouse in the UK. Your order will not have to go through customs.

Can you ship internationally? (outside the EU)
Yes, we regularly ship internationally using USPS.

USPS Priority Mail International (6-10 days) $21.95 USD
USPS Express Mail International (3-5 days) $29.95 USD

Please note that this does not include import taxes and fees that may be collected by the destination country. Also, sometimes items can take longer to arrive depending on how long it takes them to clear customs.

Where do items ship from?
Items shipping to the US or to international destinations outside the EU ship from our office in San Francisco, California. Orders to EU member countries ship from our warehouse in the UK.

Is there an SDK available?
Yes, we currently have two SDKs available. The Saleae Device SDK gives you access to Logic and Logic16 at a low level, so you can collect data for your own application. The Analyzer SDK lets you create your own protocol analyzer plugins. Both of these can be found on the Community Site.

Are you going to offer any other protocol analyzers in the future?
Absolutely. High on the list are JTAG and LIN, followed by others. Right now we support SPI, Asynchronous Serial, I2C, CAN, 1-Wire, UNI/O, I2S/PCM, MP Mode 9-bit Serial (aka Multidrop and Multiprocessor mode), and Manchester (including differential Manchester and Biphase mark/space (FM1/0) code).

Are you actively developing/improving the software? I have some suggestions.
We'd love to hear any suggestions you have. We have an extensive and growing list of things we'd like to improve/add, tracked in an issue tracking database. All updates will be rolled out for free to everyone.

Do you have any distributors for Logic?
Yes. In addition to ordering Logic from us you can also order it from the following heros.

Can Logic output logic data as well as record it?
Yes, but right now this can only be done with the Device SDK. We will be adding a simple GUI to facilitate this in the not-too-distant future. That said, our primary focus is making the best logic analyzer possible.

Can Logic16 output logic data as well as record it?
The short answer is no. Logic16 is technically capable of output mode, but this will require further software development on our part, as well as a hardware adapter we will produce in the future.

Can I combine two Logics to get 16 channels? (or two logic16s to get 32 channels?)
Unfortunately no, due to technical limitations, although we do readily acknowledge that this would be cool.

What if my Logic or Logic16 stops working for some reason?
Logic and Logic16 are fully covered against any possible malfunction for 2 years. Just write us, and we'll get it fixed for you quickly.

What if I decide that Logic or Logic16 isn't what I really need?
Just let us know within 90 days, and we'll provide a full refund. We will provide you with a printable shipping label so you can ship it back to us at our expense.

How long has Saleae (and Logic) been around?
The first Logic was sold to Chip on June 3rd, 2008. Since then we've sent thousands of Logics all over the world and have gotten some pretty nice feedback. Things are going well!

How do you pronounce "Saleae," and what does it mean?
Say-lee-'A'. It's just a made up word we came up with a long while back; among other things we went through the periodic table for ideas, and we're pretty confident it was based on Selenium.

Do Logic and Logic16 work in Windows XP/Vista on VMWare or Parallels on Linux or Mac?
Yes, although the maximum sample speed may be significantly lower. Now that the cross platform software is available, we recommend running the software natively.
